Oh? Did you mean to have been waiting this long or did time escape you? I guess laziness does pay off at times, the elevator doors automatic open up the moment it hits the ground floor. It's the kind you would find in a 4 star hotel lobby. Inside is a tiled checker floor, a golden rail that still shines, and a see through glass backing on each side. On the ceiling is a mirror looking down on you. Moving inward, you can see where the button panel should be but theres nothing there just like how it was outside. Odd. The doors shut after a comfortable minute, you were locked in your fate now.
Through the side doors you can see paradise in the distance. It's beautiful. Maybe the wait was really worth it, It's hard to describe the feeling you see before you. Is it love? Is it home? Peace? Kindness? There are so many answers that come to mind. If you speak to your friend, they describe a completely different scene than the one that blessed your eyes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, is it not?
The ride doesn't feel long, at least you think. But your friend mention the wait being as long if not longer than the wait you took outside. The doors shutter before coming to a complete stop and opening up.
Stepping out you are among the clouds, sunshine shining through the holes of cumulus blocking its rays above. If you look at your feet you can see some holes beneath you too. Millions upon millions of miles down you can still see paradise. A shakey exhale escapes you, the idea of falling to your death to reach nirvana is beyond you. About a block away is a gate.
