The ride down feels hopeless as you've had to let go of the only real taste a human can get to heaven. It's like you lost a part of yourself seeing a charm beyond your years. Witnessing a state you were never meant to see. A damn break loose as you lose your composure. Tears brimming the edges of your eyes as you try to fight them away.
Your friend wraps their arms around your shoulders, holding you in a soft warm embrace. Its comforting and you close your eyes so you don't have to look at paradise on the way down. It's all false advertising, you know better now. Part of you always knew better. The ride is painstakeningly long, You think your friend was right about the ride up being just as long as the wait in the lobby. It shows on the ride down. Eventually you come to a stop, eyes opening again when you hear the ding.
You no longer are sobbing, your shoulders start to relax as your breathing regulate again. You get out of the elevator and look behind you.
You don't remember anyone being in the elevator with you
